Waka Ama

Bonus Activity: Waka Ama

I would not like to compete in a Waka Ama race, however, it looks like a very fun sport. I can see that like every sport, it takes a lot of hard work and commitment.

I have a sport that I love doing. It is ice figure skating. I am committed to it. I go to the rink twice during the term and every holiday I participate in the skating holiday programme. In the last two weeks i have been going every day for 3 hours.

Voyage Letter to My Friend

Week 1 -  Activity 2: Setting Sail

As the ocean got wild, the home island dwindled, my heart sunk with sadness as I left you behind and all the great times we shared.  However, my mum assured me that it will be exciting in our new place. Days became weeks, weeks became months before  the land of the long white cloud appeared before our eyes. It was exciting, however, nerve wreaking. I was very nervous about this new place. I was worried about the people, the place and how I could  make friends with the children.
Most nights I lay awake watching the stars twinkle while the waka rocked me to sleep. Sometimes I cried when I think about you and our fun times. 
We are nearing this place, I see a lots of trees, a very greenery island. I will update you when we have settled.

- He did not give up to his brothers' refusal and a great planner, who trusted his grandmother's advise and his karakia.
- He fished the North Island of New Zealand and the South Island is his boat. What a great fisherman.

“I've made it to the top”!

“I've made it to the top” said Jim. He was proud of himself. Jim was an adventurous kind of person. He was exploring Mount Everest. He was accompanied by his friend named Jack. They were two best friends who had a lot in common.

All of a sudden Jack had a challenge for Jim.“I've got a challenge for you Jim”. Jack exclaimed. “And what is that challenge Jack?” Questioned Jim. “Why don’t we race each other to the bottom of the hill and who ever wins, will be the champion of climbing this huge mountain”. Answered Jack. “Okay that sounds alright. But are you sure your up for this Jack”. Asked Jim. “Because you look tired from climbing up this huge mountain.”  “No i’m alright Jim.” Responded Jack. “I can handle this. I will be fine.”

To their surprise, their race began. Jim was well ahead of Jack. Jack was puffed from climbing that big mountain. Then he stopped.  Jim had won the race. For Jack, he was tired and puffed out behind Jim.

My Two Favourite Saints

Saint Cecilia is the patron saint of Musicians. Her feast day is celebrated in the 22nd of November. She is also known for getting killed because of her belief and her religion. Saint Cecilia is also a symbol of her opinion that music is an necessary part of the liturgy.

Saint Patrick’s is the patron saint of Ireland. When he was 16, he was captured from his home and taken to Ireland as a slave. He lived there for 6 years. Then he escaped and returned back to his family. The feast day of Saint Patrick is celebrated on the 17th of March. The day of his death.
