The Bush Walk

I've made it to the top”!

“I've made it to the top” said Jim. He was proud of himself. Jim was an adventurous kind of person. He was exploring Mount Everest. He was accompanied by his friend named Jack. They were two best friends who had a lot in common.

All of a sudden Jack had a challenge for Jim.“I've got a challenge for you Jim”. Jack exclaimed. “And what is that challenge Jack?” Questioned Jim. “Why don’t we race each other to the bottom of the hill and who ever wins, will be the champion of climbing this huge mountain”. Answered Jack. “Okay that sounds alright. But are you sure your up for this Jack”. Asked Jim. “Because you look tired from climbing up this huge mountain.”  “No i’m alright Jim.” Responded Jack. “I can handle this. I will be fine.”

To their surprise, their race began. Jim was well ahead of Jack. Jack was puffed from climbing that big mountain. Then he stopped.  Jim had won the race. For Jack, he was tired and puffed out behind Jim.

Cross-Country 2013

Wednesday 14th August 2013

Cross-Country Recount Writing
On Tuesday the 13th August 2013, Saint Pius X was having cross-country.  It was a big day for Saint Pius X children. The bell rang. It was time for us to get ready. I tried to fake my headache but I was in hard luck. So the school gathered in the tennis court and get ready for the race.

Firstly, the 12 and 13 years old ran. When Miss G banged the blocks I started jogging. When we got to the bottom of the hill I started to sprint up the hill. Then I got tired. I ran past Eneasi and Vililatai. I stopped. But they caught up with me again. So I was behind. Dawn caught up to me. So we decided to power walk together. Even though we were tired we power walked as fast as we could.

Finally we came to the finish line and I finished 2nd for the 12 yr old girls. I was so proud to come 2nd.

Finally, it was time for the junior syndicate cross-country. They were so nervous. While I was watching them, I was sad because I had to leave and the race was not finished yet. But I was happy in the inside because I came second in the twelve year old girls run.  It was a tiring experience for me.

Blood Brothers

Blood Brothers

Thursday was a great opportunity for us year sevens to go to Selwyn college to watch blood brothers. We had rides from Miss.G. I got a ride from Mr.Gleason. My other classmates got a ride from Mrs.Gleason. And two classmates of mine had a ride with Miss.G. We all raced to Selwyn College. But Miss.G unfortunately won. We went inside and waited, but while we were waiting, we were looking around and the PLACE was HUGE!. We waited for five minutes inside. But we went outside for fresh air and sat around a round table. We waited until someone came and called us to come inside. They showed us the bathrooms and where we will be sitting. So I leaded us to the seats.
Act one tells us about a Mrs.Johnstone already giving birth to four children. Her husband walks out on her. She was working for a couple named Mr and Mrs.Lyons. Mr and Mrs.Lyons couldn’t abort a child. But Mrs.Johnstone was having twins and she told Mrs.Lyons all about it.
Act Two was telling how Eddie and Mickey are now fourteen years old and they bump into each other again. But four years later Eddie leaves for university, but not before Eddie encourages Mickey to ask out Linda. During Eddie’s absence around the 1980’s, Mickey is made from redundant from his factory job. He soon discovers that Linda is pregnant, and they decide to get married. Eddie returns at Christmas ready to party and have fun with Mickey,Linda and himself.

I really enjoyed that theatre of the Blood Brothers. It captures my attention. I hope we could act it out somedays.

Mother's Day Description

My Mother

My mother is so special to me. Even though she doesn't have time with my brother and I she still expects us to do what she asks.I do things that make her upset but I know she still love me back. She takes good care of me even though i’m a little bit stubborn. She encourages me to read because she always said that it will help in my daily life. She was also the person that made realise that I should always love my brother for who he is. My mum is my best friend in the whole wide world and I will never ever have another mother.

Ash Wednesday

Ash Wednesday
On the 13th of February we had an Ash Wednesday Mass. Ash Wednesday mass was so holy and full of people. I was nervous and shaking, but my confidence was boosting up as I started talking. I was the person who says the introduction. We celebrated Ash Wednesday with our new priest Fr.Ioane. He was awesome. His homily was talking about Almsgiving, Fasting and Prayer. When he was talking to us about almsgiving I thought about what should I do for almsgiving, so I thought I would help around in the house with anyone who needs help.

Second of all, he talked about Fasting and he said fasting is just not about giving up all the fats it also giving up what you mostly love. So I thought about that again and gave up watching television all the time. When it was time for distributing the ashes I went to father to get my ash on my forehead and he said “Be faithful to the gospel and turn away from sin”. I replied “Amen.”

When the mass ended, I accidentally rubbed of my ash on my forehead and I felt angry with myself. But then again, I felt happy in the end.

My Writing Learning Intentions

I am learning to improve in my writing by:-

Identifying the subjects and the predicates in my writing.
Look at the type of verbs in my writing.
Add adverbs to my writing.
Change some verbs into more interesting vocabulary.
Example- I sang horribly at church.
Subject- I
Predicate-Sang horribly at church.

Athletics Day

                                     Athletics Day

Athletics day was finally here.
It was time for the big event of the day.  I walked into the classroom, got changed into my house colour and got ready for the event.  The bell rang. We had to all get into our houses.
My good friend Sione To’a walked past our Kea house a a little leprechaun. I was pouring my head out with laughter as he pretended to be a little girl and twirling his hair around all of us.

It was time for the obstacles to start. I started with the shot put event. That was my biggest challenge for the day. When it was my turn, I wish that I was Valerie Adams. My biggest fan in any shot put events. When I pushed the ball off my hand it went across the the flags and I made it. I was so proud of myself. Next we moved clockwise to Mrs.Pole she was in charge of the tabloids. When I did the obstacle I felt so tired when I came to the zig-zag cones. But I didn't stop because my house was cheering along.

Then we moved along to Mrs.Deeney who at the beanbag throw. I thought it was a silly game but it was quite interesting. It was fun because we got to run from one end to another.

Lastly, it was time for my relays. I found the relay easy because there were only Genevieve, Catherine and myself that was running. So that meant we were taking turns at who will come first, second and third. It was finally time to know who came fourth, third, second and first. Fourth place went to Kiwis. Third place went to Keas. Second place went to Tuis and First place went to Geckos. They were so happy and proud of themselves for trying so hard.

Soul Friends Mass

Friday morning we began with our Soul Friend mass as a whole school.  We had to make our promises to our soul friends Soul Friends are two or three friends who bond to get to know each other very well.  My soul friend is Stanley and Sione To’a.  I promised to them and that I will commit myself to listen to them everyday. During our mass we listened to Father Ioane's homily. He was also talking about how special Saint Patrick's day was. Saint Patrick is the Patron Saint of Ireland. He grew up in a rich family. He was captured when he was 16 years old. He escaped one night during a raiding party. Then he wrote many prayers about God. Then he also mentioned our new Pope. Pope Francis the first. He was from Argentina. Then he had his final prayer and the mass ended.

My Awesome Holidays

On the first day of the holidays it was so cool. We went swimming. There was splashing everywhere at the pools. Suddenly I saw Mr.Hooker at the pools and I said “Hello” to him. He couldn’t see me clearly because he had his glasses off. I did not know that he worked as a instructor. He was with a friend. His name was Jason.

After I moved to the cold pool,  When I came back home I was so exhausted from swimming. So I went straight to bed and slept the whole afternoon until night.

In the morning we woke up. We were late for my brothers appointment and my mums. So it was cancelled and we stayed home. My brother and I went into my room and watched t.v and we fell asleep. My brother fell asleep on the couch and I on the big bed. I heard a loud noise in the lounge when I was about to go to  sleep.
I went to check in the lounge and it was my dad snoring loudly s2on the couch and I saw my mum on the computer. So I went back to sleep.

My Recount Writing

There was a girl who was wondering around the woods. Her name was
Annabelle. She was a wonderful girl. It all started when she was five years old. Her parents were taken away from her so she grew up in the streets and she was taken to prison.  After five years in jail, she was released from prison because a friend of her dad’s helped her and her dad’s friend gave her a safety box which her dad would write to her and left a picture that lead her to the people that ruined him and his family.

Three years later a house was on for sale. She looked around and realized that it was her father’s house so she bought it. There was a lady living next to her and her name was Samantha she was Annabell’s mum but Annabelle doesn’t know her ever since she was little but she remarried and  had a husband named Jake. Four years passed and it was Annabelle’s mum and dad’s anniversary. She went to the place where her mother and father was buried and celebrated with her dad. She spent one hour with her mum and dad.

She arrived home and she didn’t know that Samantha was watching her from the other side. When she walked inside she closed the door but someone blocked it with their feet she looked and it was man wearing a mask and she never knew who was hiding under the mask. He was pointing a gun at her. She stepped back to her draw where she keeps her guns she looked inside nothing was inside so that meant that the man was already been inside. Until the man grabbed her by the neck and pointed the gun at her brain. She was scared and nervous. She was working out what she could do in a situation like this. The man unmasked himself. He was wearing a black shirt, black pants, black gloves and he had orange hair like the sunset.

My Narrative about my Power cut off.

Conclusion-Mum was home and I was glad, I went and hugged her.

Orientation- I was alone at home waiting for mum. I was spending time on my homework. I could hear frogs croaking, owls hooting.

Complication- Suddenly the power was cut off. I was in shock because it was so dark.  I used my hands to lead me to where I was going. But suddenly I hear someone knocking. I didn’t know my way to the door because of the darkness. It knocked for the second time but I still couldn’t know where my hands are taking me.

Resolution- Suddenly I heard a  key opened the door. I heard someone call out my name “Jack, Jack, Jack are you awake?” She said. I said “yes I am.” I called back. “Our power is cut off”. I yelled.

Our First time at Basketball.

Today we started with Basketball. Our first day of our new sport. We had a coach that use to play basketball. But he said he retired. We had to be extra quiet because the parish has mass today. We were near the courts.

His name was coach Bruce and our other coach was late and his name was coach Wayne. He is our instructor.

After our time of fun we had to end ourselves with a game called shoot the ball. Dorothy and Lavinia’s team  unfortunately won the game. But i had fun though even if we lost. I was thinking to myself why is this intresting to me?I still have a chance of playing basketball next week.

Glen Innes Primary Worm Farm.

Worm Farm
At Glen Innes Primary.

“Walk Walk Walk”. It was a great timing for us Room 6 and 7 at Saint Pius X school to walk to Glen Innes Primary. We had to take a look at their worm farms. When we were walking I noticed the nature around me. I was imagining that we were earthworms and they were human. I was talking to Annabell. She is our teacher aid. We were talking about what was around us. When we got there we talked with their principal Mr.Nido.

After then we went and looked at their vegetables growing at the back. They had taro leaves growing also. We talked about the soil. How it is rich .

We had a great time at Glen Innes Primary. Then we took some beans with us and some worm tea. I hope we could walk there again and take some worm tea.
